News for today:

  • [GreyNoise] Have we been compromised already? GreyNoise introduced C2 Detection, so that security teams can detect if their infrastructure has been compromised. Powered by GreyNoise’s callback IP intelligence and malware hash data, C2 Detection provides post-exploitation, outbound-facing threat intelligence by surfacing active compromise through outbound communication with attacker-controlled infrastructure. It provides an end-to-end overview about how attacks actually work, including what payloads were delivered, what binaries were downloaded, which external servers were used for Command and Control, and what commands and behaviors were associated with those sessions. • [Acronis] New MDR service for MSPs. Acronis launched an MDR service for MSPs, so that MSPs can offer a SOC to their clients by using cybersecurity capabilities from the Acronis Threat Research Unit. Unlike traditional MDR services that rely on multiple tools for detection, remediation, and recovery, Acronis MDR by Acronis TRU provides an integrated, globally available solution optimized for MSPs of all sizes. The service combines endpoint detection and response with integrated proactive protection via patch management and built-in business continuity capabilities, enabling faster incident response, streamlined management, and improved cyber resilience. • [Anthropic] Project Glasswing for defensive cybersecurity. Anthropic announced a new initiative where trusted partners will use one of Anthropic’s new frontier models as part of their defensive cybersecurity work. Mythos Preview has already found thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities, including some in every major operating system and web browser. Given the rate of AI progress, it will not be long before such capabilities proliferate, potentially beyond actors who are committed to deploying them safely. The fallout—for economies, public safety, and national security—could be severe. Project Glasswing is an urgent attempt to put these capabilities to work for defensive purposes. Anthropic
